Thursday, Nov. 19: Coffee ‘N Bingo resumes at 10 am in the Community Room. Enjoy bingo, coffee and cookies, sponsored by the Rippey Lions Club. Myron and Maralynn Rinker are the hosts for this event and guarantee plenty of laughter.
Rippey Lions Club:The regular meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 19, with Phyllis Bardole and women of the church preparing the meal. Vernon Fritz will present the program about his experience on one of the Honor Flights for veterans to Washington, DC. Guests will include his wife Alice and LaVere and Bev Derry. LaVere has also been an Honor Flight participant.

Wednesday Nov. 25 – Rippey United Methodist Church hosts the annual ecumenical Thanksgiving service at 7 pm. The singers from the United Methodist, Presbyterian and St. Brigid Catholic churches in Grand Junction are invited to sing in the choir. A practice will be held downstairs at 6:30.
Sunday, Nov. 29: Hanging of the Greens at the church; Deadline for Toys for Tots to send to Bidwell Riverside; Blessing Bags will be collected during worship.
Bye, Bye Blues – The Bye, Bye Blues met in the home of Doris Brown on Nov. 12 for a noon potluck meal. As always, the food was plentiful and the conversation was lively. It is always a time to catch up with each other, their families and of course, the health concerns that seem to be the top of everyone’s list, including the members who are not able to attend any more because of their health. The deceased members are always remembered with a smile in our hearts and especially those who have passed away this year.
The ladies had been members of the former Alice Blue Rebekah Lodge for many years and when it closed, the members still wanted to meet once a month. They named their group Bye, Bye, Blues.
For the older members, the memories they shared of the early days is always interesting and entertaining. A favorite story shared about a pot-lock held many, many years ago is the time everyone started putting their food on the table and it soon became apparent that everyone had brought their version of baked beans! Nothing else! None were prepared the same, however, so they laughed, ate, and it is still a wonderful memory that brings laughter to the table.
This being the last gathering for the season, the members parted with the feeling of being blessed with the long friendships formed those many years ago, and wishing each other good health over the winter as they look forward to the first meeting in the spring of 2016.

News in and around Rippey: Recent weekend guests in the home of Virgene Morse were Diane and Terry Ostendorf and Ben of Madrid, Kevin and Delores Blanshan of Waterloo and Kelsey Banshan of Ankeny.
They did yard work, puttering around the farm, saw the tree planted in memory of Dale, and met Walter the Calf. Good food and laughs made the weekend complete. Regrets were sent by Madelyn and Michaela Ostendorf (who had all four wisdom teeth pulled the day before).
Phyllis Gannon and Jean Borgeson enjoyed the Veteran’s Day program at the Greene County Intermediate School in Grand Junction on Nov. 11. After a Cub Scout Pack #534 Color Guard presented the flags, the audience joined in singing our National Anthem. It was gratifying to hear the kids sing and know the words. They were very attentive and respectful, especially during the talk Bob Glenn gave about his Honor Flight experience. It was a nice program.
